The Lion’s Gate: A Time to Release, Receive and Realign

“In every ending there is a beginning. In every letting go there is a becoming.” Inspired by William Bridges

Every August, something powerful stirs. The 8th of August marks the opening of the Lion’s Gate portal, a symbolic moment of clarity, courage and transformation. It is a time when many people feel called to pause, reflect and consciously choose what comes next.

This year, I am inviting you to use this energy with intention. Not in a mystical way, but in a deeply practical, psychological and soulful way that supports real change.

The Lion’s Gate asks two simple but profound questions:

1. What do you no longer need
2. What are you welcoming in and who are you becoming

Let us explore both.

1. What Do You No Longer Need

In William Bridges’ book Transitions, he reminds us that every transformation begins with an ending. Not with a beginning. Not with a plan. But with a conscious, deliberate ending.

He encourages us to ask:

  • What needs to finish
  • What needs to stop
  • What no longer belongs in the next chapter of your life
  • What identity, habit, belief or pattern has reached its natural end

Until we acknowledge these endings, we stay stuck in the past, replaying old stories, carrying old roles and dragging old expectations behind us like heavy luggage.

My own clearing out process

Recently, I donated all my old work suits and dresses to charity. Not because they were not nice. Not because they did not fit. But because they belonged to a version of me who spent years in boardrooms, navigating senior leaders, managing difficult conversations and shaping organisational change.

That chapter is complete.

Once I started clearing those clothes, the rest followed. The wardrobe, the sock drawer, the paperwork I had been keeping just in case. I even turned my workspace upside down looking for a single piece of paper for a charity I volunteer with. I could not find it anywhere. I made a cup of tea, came back and there it was, sitting calmly on my desk as if it had been waiting for me to clear the clutter around it.

Clearing out is not just physical. It is emotional. It is psychological. It is identity level.

I am also taking time to think about and release the following:

  • old beliefs
  • old roles
  • old expectations
  • old versions of myself
  • old stories that no longer fit
  • old habits that drain my energy

By clearing these it creates space. Space for the new. Space for the aligned. Space for the next version of you.

This is where part two begins.

2. What Are You Welcoming In and Who Are You Becoming?

Transformation is not only about letting go. It is about choosing what matters now.

This is the second part of Bridges’ model, the neutral zone where the old has ended but the new has not fully formed yet. It is a fertile space. A creative space. A space where you get to ask:

  • Who am I now
  • What matters to me
  • What do I want to feel more of
  • What do I want to create
  • Who do I want to spend time with
  • What do I want my life to look like
  • What identity am I stepping into

My own becoming

I am proud of the work I do. The transformations I witness. The people who walk into my space carrying fears, phobias, limiting beliefs and emotional weight they have held for far too long, and who walk out lighter, freer and clearer.

When they release what is not theirs, their energy rises. Their confidence returns. Their values re-emerge. Their future opens.

This is the work I am welcoming in. This is the identity I am stepping into more fully. An intuitive and insightful coach who helps people release what no longer serves them and step into who they are becoming.

And now, it is your turn.

Your Lion’s Gate Invitation

You have a few days left to look around your life, physically, emotionally and mentally, and decide:

  • What is part of your old life
  • What is ready to be released
  • What is draining your energy
  • What identity have you outgrown
  • What belief is keeping you small

Let it go.

Then ask yourself:

  • What matters now
  • What do you want to welcome in
  • Who are you becoming
  • What do you want your next chapter to feel like
  • What do you want to celebrate

Embrace it. Name it. Claim it.  Say it out loud with pride.
